Two new discoveries, Seabob-1 and Kiru-Kiru-1, have been made by ExxonMobil in the Stabroek block, offshore Guyana. The company has now made seven discoveries this year in the country, with over 25 finds in total over the past years.
The Seabob-1 well was drilled by the Stena Carron drillship in 1,421 metres of water, finding approximately 40 metres of hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone.
The Kiru-Kiru-1 well, meanwhile, was developed by Stena DrillMAX in 1,756 metres of water. Even though activities are still ongoing, 30 metres of hydrocarbons were found in the well.
Six floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) are scheduled to operate at Stabroek by 2027, with two (Liza Destiny and Liza Unity) already producing. The third unit will be the Payara FPSO, expected to start activities in 2024, followed by Yellowtail in 2025.
