A consortium formed by Mitsubishi Power Americas and CONSAG have been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the Portocem thermal power plant project.
The project is under development by Portocem Geração de Energia, owner of a port in Ceará, northeastern Brazil. The company secured a contract for the thermal power plant in a public auction in December 2021.
According to the contract, Mitsubishi will provide four M501JAC-enhanced air-cooled gas turbines for the project, while CONSAG will be responsible for the remaining aspects such as utilities, civil works, assembly, and more.
Construction work has already begun and will span 39 months. Start-up is presently expected in 2026.
