Kuwait's Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) has firmed agreements with ACWA Power and the Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC) for the second and third development phases of the Al-Zour North power project. Combined, these phases represent a total investment of over US$3.2bn.
Under the agreements, ACWA Power and GIC have committed to the project's design, financing, construction, operation, maintenance and transfer.
As a whole, the Al-Zour North combined cycle power plant will have a generation capacity of 2.7GW. The facility is also expected to deliver 120 million gallons of desalinated water per day.
Once construction starts, it should take three years to be completed.
