Chevron has recently disclosed that it has begun the construction of an electrolysis plant in California, United States. The facility will produce low-carbon intensity (LCI) hydrogen by using solar power.
The electrolyser, which will be located in Central Valley, will also use land and non-potable produced water from Chevron's existing assets at Lost Hills, a productive oil field in Kern County.
Once the 5MW hydrogen project is operational, it is expected to produce two tonnes of hydrogen per day.
