A non-binding heads of agreement (HoA) has been signed by Aramco and Sempra for a 20-year sale and purchase agreement (SPA). The deal establishes that Aramco will receive 5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the second phase of Sempra's Port Arthur LNG expansion project.
The HoA also guarantees Aramco's 25% stake in the project-level equity of Port Arthur LNG Phase 2.
Port Arthur LNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal in Texas, US. The first development phase of its expansion project is now ongoing. Phase 2 will consist of the addition of up to two trains which will be able to produce up to 13mtpa combined.
