Norway’s Petroleum and Energy Ministry has granted approval for Aker BP’s plan for development and operation (PDO) of the Frosk field. Placed in the Central North Sea, Frosk is owned by operator Aker BP and partners Var Energi and Lundin Energy Norway.
Frosk was discovered in 2018 and is calculated to feature recoverable reserves of 10 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe). The current development plan predicts the drilling of two new production wells, requiring investments worth US$230m.
The PDO was submitted for assessment in September 2021.
Using the existing Bøyla and Alvheim subsea infrastructure, the Frosk field will be tied back to the Alvheim FPSO, from which it is located 25km south. First oil is set for late 2023.
