Pattern Energy has chosen GE Vernova to supply its SunZia onshore wind farm project in New Mexico, US. The plant, which will be built across the Lincoln, Torrance and San Miguel Counties, is planned to receive 674 turbines.
Each turbine included in the supply contract, which also covers long-term services, will have a capacity of 3.6MW, summing up to 2.4GW. The project's entire capacity is planned to be 3.5GW.
Once up and running, the US$5bn-worth SunZia project is expected to be the largest wind power plant in the Western Hemisphere, producing enough energy to meet the demands of more than three million American homes.
