Shell has granted BW Offshore a limited notice to proceed (LNTP) for basic engineering and supplier bookings for the FPSO to be deployed at the Gato do Mato field, offshore Brazil.
After completion of the LNTP, which is estimated at US$50m, Shell and partners intend to firm a lease and operate contract with BW Offshore and Saipem. The companies will then carry out engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the FPSO.
This contract’s firm period will be 18 years long, with seven years of options. The FPSO is expected to be delivered at Gato do Mato in 2026.
Gato do Mato is an oil and gas field lying approximately 200km off the coast, situated in a water depth of 2,000 metres. The FPSO envisaged for the field will have oil and gas processing capacities of 90,000b/d and 8.5MMcm/d, respectively.
