The Greater Tortue-Ahmeyim (GTA) floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel straddling the Mauritania-Senegal border is nearing its operational phase. Kosmos Energy, co-developer of the BP-operated project, announced that first cargo should be dispatched by March.
The liquefaction vessel is located approximately 10km off the coast and has already received gas from the GTA field via a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.
Once it's fully commissioned, the first development phase of GTA LNG is calculated to have a production output of over 2 million metric tonnes per annum (MMtpa).
