Florida Power & Light (FLP) has announced that its Dania Beach Clean Energy Center (DBEC) project in Broward County is commercially operational. The update initiative saw the installation of two GE’s 7HA.03 gas turbines.
Dania Beach was originally constructed in 1928 and was FPL’s first power plant. With a previous capacity of 920MW and now a 1.26GW clean energy centre, the facility went through a modernization project.
With GE’s 7HA.03 turbines, the largest 60-Hz heavy-duty gas model in the world, FPL is closer to its target of reducing emissions at Dania Beach by 70%. This addition composes the plant’s seventh unit.
