LLOG Exploration has granted Audubon Engineering a project management contract for the Salamanca floating production system (FPS) project. The facility will be placed at the Leon offshore oil field in the Gulf of Mexico.
The contractor will support LLOG with Salamanca’s detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
The Salamanca unit will come from modifications in the Independence Hub platform, which LLOG acquired last May from Genesis Energy for US$40m.
It is understood that the Independence Hub hull, topside truss, cranes and lifeboats will be reused, while topside equipment (including piping, electrical and instrumentation systems) will be new.
Salamanca is expected have daily oil and gas production capacities of 60,000 barrels and 40 million cubic feet, respectively. Located in a water depth of 1,862 metres, the Leon discovery in 2014 yielded 150 metres of high-quality oil net pay.
