China National Offshore Oil Corporation's (CNOOC's) Jinzhou 23-2 development is now operational. The project, located in the Bohai Sea, has achieved first oil this week, becoming China's first multi-layer heavy oil thermal recovery offshore initiative.
CNOOC calculates that Jinzhou will reach a peak production in 2027 of approximately 17,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).
The exploration includes two new central processing platforms and is planned to reach 67 development wells: 65 dedicated to production and two working as water source wells.
