Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi has attended an inauguration ceremony for Eni’s Coral South floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project in the Rovuma Basin. The FLNG vessel shipped its first cargo earlier this month.
Fed by the Coral gas field offshore Mozambique, Coral South, a turret moored double-hull ship has costed an investment of US$8bn from Eni and partners CNPC, Galp, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), ExxonMobil and Kogas.
Coral South is the first LNG producing facility in the country, with a capacity to liquefy approximately 3.4 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa) of gas.
