A significant oil discovery on the Eban exploration prospect in CTP Block 4 has been announced by Eni. The second well drilled in CTP Block 4, Eban-1X is located approximately 50km off the coast and proved a single light oil column of roughly 80m in a thick sandstone reservoir interval of Cenomanian age.
After a comprehensive analysis of extensive 3D seismic datasets analysis, the discovery has been calculated, and the production testing data shows a good deliverability potential estimated at 5,000bopd, very similar to the wells already in production on the Sankofa field.
As a result of its proximity to existing infrastructures, this discovery will be fast-tracked to production with a subsea tie-in, the Jon Agyekum Kufuor FPSO, to extend its production plateau and increase production.
The Eban discovery is a demonstration of the success of the infrastructure-led exploration strategy that Eni is archiving in its core assets worldwide.
