Ramboll has been selected by Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) for the execution of the pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) of the Bowdun offshore wind project in Scotland.
According to the pre-FEED contract, Ramboll will be responsible for, among other things, the substructure design for Bowdun's wind turbines, which will feature a base case jacket design for water depths of up to 70m.
Once this stage of works is complete, FEED and detailed design procurement will follow next year.
The 1GW facility is expected to cover an area of 187km² of seabed at approximately 44km from Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. This capacity is enough to power more than 1.2 million homes starting 2032.
The Thistle Wind Partners consortium involves developers DEME, Qair and Aspiravi.
