The first wind turbine of CrossWind’s Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm has been installed. The 759MW plant in the Netherlands’s North Sea is developed by a joint venture between Shell and Eneco.
Hollandse Kust Noord will include 69 Siemens Gamesa 11.0-200 DD wind turbines, each with a maximum capacity of 11MW. Siemens is the project’s turbine supplier, while Van Oord, which will use the Scylla vessel for turbine installation, is the EPC contractor.
Once operational by the end of the year, Hollandse Kust Noord will be able to generate 3.3TWh of energy per year. The amount is equivalent to 2.8% of the Netherland’s electricity demands.
