Enel Green Power has acquired two solar power plants, with a total capacity of approximately 90MW, in southern Romania from the Greek conglomerate Mytilineos, for an undisclosed price. In this regard, the company’s Romanian subsidiary signed two share purchase agreements with the Renewable Energy and Storage Development (RSD) business unit of the Greek Group.
The solar farm will be built in Călugareni, Gyurgiu County and one of the photovoltaic (PV) power plants will have an installed capacity of 63MW. Its construction will begin at the end of this year and is expected to achieve commercial operation by the end of 2022.
With a capacity of 26 MW, the other solar power plan will be built in Moșteni, Teleorman County. The construction of this plant may begin early next year, and the goal is to start production in early 2023. Once put into operation, the solar power plant is expected to generate nearly 130GWh of electricity each year, thereby offsetting nearly 141.7 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
The two solar power plants will bring Romania's Enel Green Power's total installed capacity to 623MW.
