Beacon Offshore Energy's Winterfell development in the US Gulf of Mexico has begun oil production. The project is a subsea tieback to the Heidelberg spar.
Winterfell is planned to be developed in phases, with the first one including two production wells and production still increasing. A third well is currently being drilled and should be operational by the end of the year.
Combined, these three initial wells should reach a gross production of approximately 20,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd).
Winterfell was discovered in 2021 and appraised in 2022. A final investment decision (FID) on the project was taken in January this year.
