Energy Vault and NV Energy have successfully entered the operational phase of the Rheid Gardner battery energy storage system (BESS) project. Built in Moapa, Nevada, the 220MW/440Mwh facility is located on the site of a decommissioned coal power plant.
Rheid Gardner is one of Nevada's largest energy storage plants, being able to deliver two-hour energy storage.  Now that it's operational, it can provide surplus renewable energy from wind and solar sources.
The asset is fully managed by NV Energy, with the support of Energy Vault's Vault-OS, an integration platform and management system.
