The Egyptian government has signed two power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Masdar, Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities. The agreements are related to solar power projects with a combined generation capacity of 1.2GW and a storage capacity of 720MWh.
The two solar projects will be built in Wahat (900MW) and Benban (300MW), both with energy storage elements.
The PPAs and the completion of the plants in question are part of Masdar's larger 4GW renewable energy strategy, as well as the company trio's 11GW renewable energy target in Egypt.
