Inpex has begun front-end engineering design (FEED) works for the Abadi LNG project in Indonesia. This phase will assess and specify the requirements for the production and processing facilities from the Abadi field as well as for an onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility.
The FEED work is split among four packages: floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO), subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF), gas export pipeline (GEP) and the LNG plant.
Activities are already being carried out by Technip, Saipem, McDermott and others, with the LNG plant segment still pending a contractor.
Inpex is the operator of Abadi LNG with a 65% stake. Pertamina (20%) and Petronas (15%) are partners.
Once operational, the project is calculated to produce 9.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG.
