Eni has announced the start of production at the Agogo project offshore Angola. Located in the lower Congo Basin, the Agogo Integrated West Hub (IWH) involves the development of the Agogo and Ndungu fields, with combined reserves of nearly 450 million barrels.
Start-up from Agogo IWH comes only 29 months after a final investment decision (FID) was made on the project. According to Eni, this was significantly ahead of plan and around 12 months faster than industry averager for deepwater projects of similar scale.
Agogo IWH is operated by Azule Energy, a bp and Eni company, with a 36.84% stake alongside partners Sonangol (36.84%) and Sinopec (26.32%).
Once in peak production, Eni calculates Agogo IWH to reach 180,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd). The operator says that this is Angola's first operational FPSO with carbon emissions fully offset.
