Pan America Energy (PAE) has finished an agreement with Golar LNG valid for 20 years for the deployment of a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel in Argentina.
According to Golar, the project is designed to establish Argentina as an LNG exporter. Operations are scheduled to start in 2027.
Also according to Golar, Pan America Energy is likely to use FLNG Hilli, which has a capacity of 2.45 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). However, the company is also able to consider alternatives among Golar's FLNG units.
This is the first phase of a potential multi-vessel project, and Golar expects other major natural gas produces in Argentina to join it.
