Construction has begun for the world's biggest hydropower dam. The power plant, currently under construction in China, is planned to have a generation capacity of 60GW.
Total investment for the construction of the facility is calculated at approximately US$160bn. The project is under development on the Yarlung Tsangpo river, Tibet.
First announced in 2020 by the Chinese government, the Yarlung Tsangpo hydropower plant was approved in January this year.
