Operation has begun at Enviromena's Medebridge solar power plant. Built in Essex, the 71MW facility is supported by the UK's largest power purchase agreement (PPA) with an educational institution, the University of Manchester.
About 65% of the university's electricity demand will be met by Medebridge. The solar park will work under this PPA for a period of 10 years.
With Medebridge now online, it is calculated that the University of Manchester will now avoid annual emissions of 12,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Over 20,000 homes will also be receiving power from Medebridge.
