Scatec, Hydro Rein and Equinor have initiated commercial operations of its joint project renewable project in Brazil. Located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Mendubim is a 531MW solar farm.
Mendubim is equally owned by the three companies with a 30% stake each. The remaining 10% have been secured by Alunorte, a subsidiary of Hydro Rein, which will offtake approximately 60% of the plant's output.
The remaining 40% produced by Mendubim will be negotiated in the market.
The solar power plant required a total investment of US$430m for its completion and is now able to produce 1.2TWh of energy per year.
