The conceptual engineering design contract for Petronas' first complete Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project, offshore Malaysia, has been awarded to Xodus, a global energy consultant.
The Kasawari CCS project is located off the coast of Sarawak and will comprise of the capture and processing of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the sour gas field, which will subsequently be injected into a depleted gas field. This project is a crucial part of PETRONAS' goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Xodus has deep knowledge of all aspects of CCS, including designing and operating systems for capturing, processing, transporting, injecting and storing CO2. In providing services to Kasawari, Xodus will also exchange knowledge and expertise with its Malaysian customers and contractor communities.
The co-operation with PETRONAS is part of the Xodus contract to offer engineering services for the operator's Malaysian and worldwide development projects. According to the agreement, Xodus will provide feasibility studies and conceptual design.
