TotalEnergies and its partners in the Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 2, previously named OML 130, offshore Nigeria have announced the beginning of production at the Akpo West field.
The field, located in the Gulf of Guinea approximately 135km off the coast, is linked via tieback to the existing floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit in the Akpo condensate field, which is operational since 2009.
Having produced 124,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) in 2023, the FPSO is expected to receive and addition of 14,000 boped from Akpo West by mid-2024. By 2028, production of gas should reach four million cubic metres per day.
