Equinor has firmed a long-term sale and purchase  agreement (SPA) with Cheniere Energy. According to the SPA, Cheniere Energy will provide approximately 1.75 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG to Equinor for a period of 15 years.
Starting in 2027, Cheniere will deliver half of the contracted amount, with the remaining volume of LNG to be delivered pending a positivie final investment decision (FID) on the first train of the Sabine Pass Liquefaction (SPL) expansion project.
The expansion project includes the installation of three additional trains at the SPL plant in Louisiana, United States. Once complete, it will have increased SPL's capacity to 10mtpa of LNG.
