Latvia’s Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority and CIS Liepaja have firmed a reservation contract valid for two years for the installation of a renewable energy complex in the Port of Liepaja. Works will include the construction of a hydrogen production plant and a port terminal.
CIS Liepaja's leading partner is Clean Industrial Solutions. The joint venture expects the 1GW project to be complete by 2030, creating up to 100 new jobs and producing 150,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year.
The required investment of this initiative is calculated at approximately €1bn.
