Norway's Ministry of Energy has granted approval to a 75MW floating offshore wind farm. To be built in the Barents Sea, the facility is a pilot project to demonstrate new, Norwegian offshore wind technology and will feature five floating wind turbines with capacity of 15MW each.
GoatVIND, the project developer, is expected to submit a licence application for the wind farm in the next weeks. The joint venture is formed by Odfjell Oceanwind, Source Galileo, Kansai Electric Power and Eneos Renewable Energy.
Construction is scheduled to start between 2028 and 2029.
