EQTC, developer of the Haverton Hill waste-to-energy plant in Billingham, UK, has chosen Petrofac to carry out the project’s front-end engineering design (FEED). Through the signing of a letter of intent (LOI), Petrofac is also a potential EPC contractor.
Haverton Hill has already acquired all necessary permits for its development as well as a grid connection.
According to EQTC’s plans, the facility will use 200,000 tonnes per year of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) to generate 25MW of electricity, which will be injected in the national grid.
Thermal output is calculated to be up to 34MW.
