The Senegal National Electricity Agency (Senelec) has granted VINCI Energies a contract for the construction of transmission and distribution infrastructure in the country. The contract is valued at approximately US$220m.
 VINCI Energies is responsible for building a 1,350km high-voltage and very-high-voltage overhead and underground transmission lines that will connect households to the national grid. The contractor will also carry out the construction of eight new very-high-voltage substations.
Financing for this project, which will take three years and demand over 1,000 staff for its completion, has been secured with French authorities.
