British provider Wood has been chosen by Woodside Energy for works at the Sangomar FPSO. Wood will install a combined production management system (PMS) and virtual metering system (VMS) at Sangomar’s control room.
The Virtuoso PMS and VMS will be connected to Woodside’s units in Senegal and Perth, monitoring a variety of data related to the field’s production system, complex operations, and surveillance.
PMS will enable a continued production and reduce flaring – and hence Sangomar’s greenhouse gas emissions and methane intensity. Meanwhile, VMS will decrease the amount of subsea flow meters necessary for the project.
To be completed in 2023, the Sangomar FPSO will have a processing capacity of approximately 100,000 barrels per day of crude oil. To be deployed offshore Senegal, this is the country’s first offshore oil development project.
