Plug Power and Allied Green Ammonia (AGA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a hydrogen-to-ammonia project in Australia. According to the agreement, Plug Power will supply AGA with a 3GW electrolyzer for the proposed facility.
After the signing of the MoU, Plug and AGA are about to launch an agreement for a basic engineering and design package (BEDP). This is expected to take place before a final investment decision (FID) on the project is made, which should happen in late 2025.
With the development process advancing further, the hydrogen and ammonia plant in northern Australia should be operational by early 2027, producing 2,500 metric tonne-per-day (TPD) of green ammonia.
