China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has announced the beginning of production in the Enping oil fields (Enping 15-1, 10-2, 15-2, and 20-4) at Pearl River Mouth Basin, China.
The Enping fields in question feature two drilling production platforms and an unmanned wellhead platform.
CNOOC has stated that commissioning works are about to begin for 48 production wells. Peak production is expected to take place in 2024, reaching 35,500 barrels of crude oil per day.
The project has also implemented a carbon capture and storage (CCS) element, the first of its kind in China, which will use one well for reinjection of carbon dioxide.
