Saipem has been awarded a €300m contract by Eni Mediterranea Idrocarburi (Enimed) for works related to the Argo and Cassiopea fields in Italy. The company will be responsible for the construction of an offshore gas pipeline linking four wells to the Sicilian coast.
Pipelay vessels Castorone and Castoro 10 will install the 60-kilometre-long 14” pipeline. The project’s maximum water depth will be of 660m.
Saipem will also use the Saipem 3000 vessel for the installation of umbilicals connecting Cassiopea wells to the Prezioso platform.
Eni is the operator of Cassiopea and Argo with a stake of 60%. The remaining 40% are owned by Energean. After production starts, the fields will be one of the main operational gas fields in Italy.
