Following an increase of Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Ukraine has lost 9GW of energy generation capacity since March 2024. The country is currently running a 3GW gap against consumption, of which half is met with imports, while the rest must be made up by scheduled outages.
Ukraine and allies are rallying to support with Ukraine's urgent energy generation needs before winter. The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is engaging with trade bodies to identify which UK companies have the equipment urgently needed. The aim is to create a database of potential suppliers of items and services needed by Ukrainian energy companies. It will then directly engage major procurement agencies with an overview of the UK industry's potential support.
Ukraine's Ministry of Energy has shared the equipment urgently needed in this PDF document. We would be grateful if you could circulate this with relevant contacts. If you have any of the required equipment or similar equipment, please complete this MS Form by Friday 12th July, 5pm. Responses to the form will be sent directly to DBT.
The Ministry of Restoration is in the process of producing a separate list which will contain their district heating and water supply needs. This will be circulated once received.
Additionally, please see recent procurement notices that have been published through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund (UESF). DBT will be hosting a UESF-focused workshop on 17th July. It is an opportunity for UK businesses to learn about the range of UESF tenders available and the procurement process which is administered and managed by Tetra Tech.
