New Fortress Energy's floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility in Altamira, Mexico is now operational. According to the company, this is the fastest large-scale LNG project ever developed.
With a production capacity of 1.4 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa), the Altamira FLNG has put online its first liquefaction unit. It will deliver first cargo in August, entering full production after.
The second unit is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2026. With the same capacity of the first unit, train two has already secured a US$700m loan for the financing of construction works.
