Equipped with 582,930 solar panels and covering 479ha, the plant in Sol del Desierto will generate 714 GWh of clean power every year.
In addition to powering 345,198 households, the solar facility will offset 368,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually, the equivalent of removing more than 47,000 vehicles from the road.
Built-in the city of Maria Elena in the Antofagasta region, the Sol del Desierto solar power plant has been integrated with bifacial technology that allows energy to be obtained from the back and front faces of its solar panels.
It is supported by a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the supply of 550GWh/year of solar photovoltaic energy to Engie Energía Chile.
