The Amsterdam-based company SBO Offshore has announced that it has signed contracts with Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) for the 26-years lease and operation of the Almirante Tamandaré FPSO. The deal was originally announced in February but its value was not provided.
The platform will be deployed at the Búzios field in the Santos Basin, approximately 180km from Rio de Janeiro state. SBM Offshore is progressing with the design and construction using its Fast4Ward® programme.
According to SBM Offshore, Almirante Tamandaré will be the largest oil-producing unit operating offshore Brazil and one of the largest in the world. The FPSO will have a daily processing capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and 12MMcm of gas.
Delivery of the FPSO is expected in the second half of 2024.
