EnBW has announced a final investment decision (FID) on the conversion and expansion project of the Rudolf-Fettweis hydropower plant in Germany. The Forbach project will replace the plant’s current conventional storage to a pumped storage of higher capacity.
According to the developer, this expansion will require a total investment of €280m. Construction is scheduled to start by the end of the year and to be concluded by late 2027.
Through the Forbach project, EnBW intends to expand the plant’s capacity of 71MW by a maximum of 200MW.
