Masdar, the public renewable energy company from the UAE, has fully acquired a 50% stake in Big Beau, a hybrid solar and energy storage project in California, US. Big Beau consists of a 128MW photovoltaic (PV) plant and a 40MW/160MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) facility.
Now the project’s ownership is shared by Masdar and EDF Renewables, making it the eighth joint project between both the companies. Combined, these facilities will add 1.6GW of capacity.
Operations at the Big Beau solar plant have begun in February, while construction at the BESS element is still ongoing.
