Hitachi Energy has been awarded a contract by the Intermountain Power Agency (IPA) for the upgrade of the transmission line owned by IPA, which runs from Utah to Los Angeles, United States.
The contract establishes that Hitachi Energy will be responsible for two new high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations, providing design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning services.
The new devices will replace the existing HVDC converter that has been working since 1986. Quanta Services will also be involved in the works to support Hitachi Energy with a turnkey project solution.
