Glenfarne Group has announced a strategic partnership with Danaos Corporation to advance the logistics and funding of the Alaska LNG project. Under the agreement, Danaos will make a $50 million development capital investment and facilitate the construction and operation of at least six LNG carriers. These vessels are essential for delivering LNG to Asian markets via "canal-free" routes, a key logistical advantage that avoids contested waters and potential transit bottlenecks.
This collaboration supports the project's second phase, which includes a liquefaction terminal capable of exporting 20 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Since taking over as lead developer in March 2025, Glenfarne has secured preliminary commitments for 11 MTPA from buyers in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. The addition of Danaos as a strategic partner strengthens the project’s supply chain infrastructure as it progresses toward execution.
