Egypt’s National Green Hydrogen Council has formally granted Indian developer Ocior Energy a 12 square kilometre site in the West Zaafarana region. This designated land will host a 600MW solar power plant, marking a significant step in the nation's renewable infrastructure expansion.
The upcoming photovoltaic facility is designed to supply dedicated electricity for the pilot phase of a co-located green ammonia development. During this initial operational stage, the associated complex aims to manufacture 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually. Through successive expansion phases, the wider project is ultimately projected to reach a total production capacity of 1m tonnes per year.
Chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the council's latest allocation highlights ongoing governmental efforts to attract international investment and position Egypt as a highly competitive hub for low-carbon energy derivatives.
