Spanish manufacturer Tubacex has secured an agreement with Électricité de France (EDF) to deliver high-integrity forged tubular components for the country's new EPR2 nuclear programme. The equipment will support the main steam and feedwater systems of the first two reactors, offering an option to expand into future units.
Production will take place at IBF, the firm's specialised manufacturing facility in Italy. This milestone marks the transition from several years of joint engineering into the full-scale industrial supply phase. All delivered parts must meet exceptionally demanding requirements for material behaviour, dimensional control and long-term reliability.
The wider EPR2 development encompasses six new reactors planned across the Penly, Gravelines and Bugey sites, each possessing a capacity of 1,670MW. This award consolidates the supplier's robust position within the European energy value chain.
