Ørsted has concluded major construction works at the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms in Taiwan. Following a dedicated ceremony on 1 September 2026, the 920MW development has officially entered its final commissioning phase. The operator anticipates achieving full commercial operations by the third quarter of 2026.
The development features 66 Siemens Gamesa 14MW turbines. While all units for the 583MW Greater Changhua 4 site are already commissioned, the installation of the export cable for Greater Changhua 2b is currently being finalised. Once fully online, these latest phases will increase Ørsted’s total installed capacity across the regional cluster to 1.82GW.
The Greater Changhua 4 asset is jointly owned by Ørsted and Cathay Life Insurance, with each holding a 50% stake. Furthermore, the Taiwanese partner is acquiring a 55% share in the adjacent Greater Changhua 2 facility.
