Qualitas Energy has entered an agreement to finance the construction of a 211MW battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio in Italy. Developed in partnership with ACL Energy, the transaction covers two distinct projects located in the Lombardy and Apulia regions.
The portfolio will utilise both four-hour and eight-hour storage technologies. Furthermore, the assets will operate under 15-year revenue contracts secured through Italy’s capacity market and MACSE storage auctions.
Funding is sourced from the Qualitas Energy Credit Fund, which provides tailored debt solutions for renewable infrastructure and holds commitments exceeding €370m. The capital will support the construction, commissioning and long-term operation of the facilities, with staggered disbursements tied to key development milestones.
This strategic investment addresses a critical financing gap, enabling independent developers to deliver vital grid stability and accelerate the European energy transition.
