EDF Power Solutions North America has secured a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA). The deal covers electricity generated by the Utah Solar 1 facility, which will primarily supply the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Located on state-owned land in Millard County, Utah, the solar array will feature a capacity of 400MW direct current and 300MW alternating current. Commercial operations are expected to commence in mid-2027.
At peak construction, the development will create approximately 400 jobs. Over the agreement's duration, the asset is projected to generate over US$40m in local tax revenue and US$27m in lease payments. Once operational, it will produce an estimated 766GWh of clean electricity annually to power Californian households.
